BUNGTOD-ANINAW

BUNGTOD-ANINAW
Resurrection Center of Spirituality
Camanga, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur

Bungtod-Aninaw, the Resurrection Center of
Spirituality, is a center meant
for ordinary Catholics who need a place
far away from crowded places that provide
them the needed space for prayer, reflection
and meditation.
Leaders and members of Base Ecclesial
Communities, teachers and students of schools,
those belonging to lay movements, organizations
and associations and ordinary folks are welcome
to Bungtod-Aninaw.

To reach Bungtod-Aninaw:
1) Those coming from Davao-Cotabato: Take the
van that leaves Cotabato City and which travels through
Esperanza, the Narciso Highway, past parts of
Balabagan-Malabang-Maladeg-Karomatan and
then on to Tukuran. Get off past Tukuran poblacion,
in the barangay of Camanga. From the juncture, one
walks the barangay road and just over 2 kms from the
corner, one reaches the welcoming arms of
Bungtod-Aninaw.
2) From Pagadian City or Molave-Dipolog:
Get off at the corner of Labangon-Tukuran road if
one takes the bus. If one has one's ride, then take
the road to Camanga, roughly 10 kms from the corner
and follow the road at the juncture towards Bungtod-
Aninaw
. Those taking public transport, get off at
corner Labangon, then wait for a jeep that goes towards
poblacion Tukuran, get off at Camanga and walk the
barangay road towards the Center.

Bungtod-Aninaw rests on top of a hill
overlooking the village of Camanga
with its ricefields, orchards, vegetable
gardens and nipa huts. White herons
find their way to these fields.
Surrounding the hill are low-lying
mountains that attract the clouds
especially during the rainy season.
The Center occupies 5 hectares of this
hill and the surrounding areas.
Mahogany and other
hardwood trees have
been planted on the
slopes of the hill
to provide shade for
those who want open
space for their
reflection. Down
below the hill are
ricefields.
The main hall at Bungtod Aninaw. To the right is
the place for group sessions
and prayer. to the left
is the dormitory with six
rooms. Each room can
accomodate 4 persons.
An old lomboy tree that has
grown on the hill for years was
trimmed of its branches and with new
shoots growing, it has the looks of a
topiary tree. With a cow at its base and
the rain clouds approaching the hill, the
tree casts a dramatic silhouette.

Fruit-bearing mango trees are planted
at another sloping part of the property.

Young balete
and acacia
trees frame the
building.
The first building
set up on Bungtod-Aninaw is this nipa
hut that serves as hermitage.
The road that climbs up to
the top of the hill. On both
sides of the road are fruit-bearing and mahogany trees. The dirty kitchen at
the back of the main hall which is shaded by a big mango tree.

In the orchard
are fruit-bearing
pomelo trees.
During their
fruit-bearing
season, the
trees are
laden with
plentiful
pomelos.

dormitory.

More cows grace
on the front yard
of the main hall.
Mahogany trees
line the sloping
part of the
property with
a view leading
towards the
surrounding hills.

the different views
that one sees from on top
of the hill, the inside

hall, a dog rests inside
the hall
and a view from the hall
towards the sea.

At Bungtod-Aninaw, nature opens up to the blessings of the Creator.
Here in the fields of the Lord, the sojourners finds the space they crave for.
A sacred space for prayer, reflection, contemplation, meditation.
